Strawberry Margarita Made From Scratch – YUM!

Margaritas are awesome.  Frozen margaritas are REALLY awesome.  But do you know what is not so awesome? For me, it’s when that awesome margarita tastes like syrup and has an after taste making you think twice about taking a second sip.  Well not this recipe…using the best and freshest fruits and quality tequila, you can say goodbye to that store bought margarita mix.  Time to make a margarita, like the bartender at heart that you are, and savor every sip!

And to make it even easier for you to create we have the how-to video from Chow so you can see what your creation will look like.  Leaving you nothing to do but salivate while you get straight to work in the kitchen making one for yourself! I know you will love this as much as I do.  Cheers!

1 1/2 pounds frozen strawberries
8 ounces silver (blanco), 100 percent agave tequila
6 ounces Simple Syrup (see Game Plan note)
4 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 8 medium limes)
2 ounces triple sec orange liqueur, preferably Luxardo Triplum or Cointreau
1/8 teaspoon fine salt
3 cups ice

Game plan: You’ll need to make the Simple Syrup before you begin. (Recipe Below)

Simple Syrup

1 cup cold water
1 cup granulated sugar

Place water and sugar in a container with a tightfitting lid. Shake vigorously for 3 minutes. Let rest for about 1 minute. Shake again for 30 seconds. Store, sealed, in the refrigerator.

Alternatively, you can heat the water and sugar in a small saucepan, stirring until the sugar has dissolved. Cool completely and store, sealed, in the refrigerator.

Place all of the ingredients except the ice in a blender and blend on high until smooth. Add the ice, pushing it to the bottom of the pitcher, and blend on high until smooth. Serve immediately.

For a nice touch, garnish with a fresh strawberry on the side of the glass 🙂
