2 Delicious Beer Bread Recipes

I came upon these recipes when I was searching for something “new” to have along with my soups and stews.  I love having a slice of buttered bread with my comfort food, but the thought of another piece of plain old white bread and a slab of butter just wasn’t cutting it.  Here are two great versions of a beer bread that we are sure you will love.

Garlic Cheddar Beer Bread

3 cups Baker’s Corner All-Purpose Flour
2 tbsp. Baker’s Corner Granulated Sugar
1 tbsp. Baker’s Corner Baking Powder
1 tsp. Stonemill Essentials Iodized Salt
½ tsp. Stonemill Essentials Garlic Powder
2 tbsp. Berryhill Honey or SimplyNature Agave Nectar, slightly warmed
1 bottle (12 ounces) Monterrey Cerveza Beer
1 cup Happy Farms Sharp Cheddar Cheese Block, shredded
3 tbsp. Countryside Creamery Unsalted Butter, melted

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a bread pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and garlic powder. Using a mixing spoon, stir the beer and honey into the dry ingredients until combined. Stir in the shredded cheddar until just combined. (Be careful not to over mix the dough.) Transfer the dough to the pan, and spread it out with a spoon so that it’s roughly level.

Bake for 40 minutes. Remove the pan and brush the melted butter on top of the bread. Return to the oven and bake for 10-15 more minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick/knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let cool for at least 5 minutes. Serve warm.

To make the beer bread – preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 by 5 inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray or butter. Set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together both kinds of flour, the sugar, baking powder and salt. Add in the honey and beer and mix until just combined.

Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan. Evenly pour the melted butter over the top of the batter.

Transfer the pan to the oven and place a baking sheet on the lower rack to catch any butter that may drip from the pan. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, until a cake tester inserted in the middle comes out clean and the top is golden brown.

To make the honey butter – in a small bowl add the butter. Add in the honey and salt. Mix until well combined.

*If you don’t have bread flour on hand, you can substitute all-purpose flour.
